In this study we propose a new method of observing phase-contrast images without beam separation by using self-interference inside a grating coupler structure disposed on the observation plane. We experimentally demonstrate that the self-interference principle can generate phase-contrast images using a simple configuration. To achieve quantitative phase imaging of biological cells, a new and simple single-shot interference microscopy is demonstrated by using a single rectangular wedged glass plate. This method is very compact, portable, and easy to implement.
The Multi-Source Interference Task: validation study with fMRI in individual subjects Skip to main content Thank you for visiting nature.com. Second, phase-contrast imaging requires a microfocus x-ray source to give x-ray illumination with sufficient spatial coherence to show interference. Such sources typically have a low flux because of the small emission spot, and the exposure times using other micro-CT systems than the one described in our study may therefore be much longer.

Phase contrast and differential interference contrast (DIC) should be considered as complementary (rather than competing) techniques, and employed together to fully investigate specimen optical properties, dynamics, and morphology. In many cases, each technique will reveal specific details about a particular specimen that is not apparent from observing images captured by other methods. differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy, they provide image contrast based on phase gradient of biological samples. However, the shadow artifact of DIC is eliminated in both Laplace and gradient field microscopy, and the enhanced edge profiles of samples are used for the study of dynamic membrane fluctuation.

This study presents a new method for imaging and counting the concentration of asbestos fibers. This approach combines the principle of differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy for imaging fibers with an imaging program to automatically assess their concentration. Constructive interference in steady state (CISS) is a fully refocused fast-gradient echo sequence that is mainly used in the assessment of the central nervous system. The most important advantages of steady-state imaging are short acquisition times, high signal-to-noise ratio, and better contrast-to-noise ratio.
